Mustang Mach E
The journey to get a Mustang Mach-E for scanning is quite a fun and interesting story—one you probably won’t believe!
We had decided that the Mustang Mach-E would be our next candidate for accessory development, but I now faced the task of finding a car that had not yet been released in Europe. So, the search began!
Essayer de trouver la Mustang Mach E à scanner
As always, my first step was to tap into my personal network. I reached out to everyone I knew to see if they might know someone who had pre-ordered the E-pony, but my efforts proved fruitless. So, it was time to go undercover again in the Facebook groups for this yet-to-be-released car.
For a few days, I immersed myself in the conversations about the car, following tiny leads of people who might have pre-ordered it near Holland. After identifying a few potential candidates, I reached out to them, but once again, my attempts were unsuccessful. The three people I contacted were hesitant to help, fearing we might scam them.
Then, a few weeks later, a nice guy named Gigi reached out to me. He had pre-ordered the Mustang Mach-E and was about to receive it! FINALLY!
As weeks passed, my colleague Yuan urged me to scan the car ASAP since the first models were starting to release. All my hopes were pinned on Gigi, but his delivery kept getting delayed…
Le chemin de la victoire
The day I finally got my hands on the Mustang Mach-E started out as a very, very bad day for me, but it turned into a victorious moment in my search!
It was a gloomy, rainy day in the cloudy country known as Holland. That evening, two friends and I decided to grab coffee at my favorite café.
(I really love my iced coffee and hadn’t had one in months, so I was quite excited about it.)
It was 7 PM, and the café closed at 8, so we had just enough time to get there. On our way, my friend noticed a police car tailing us for quite a while, but I didn’t think much of it at the time. After about ten minutes of driving, the police car actually pulled us over and decided it was a good time to search my vehicle for weapons and drugs. One of my friends had never experienced this and was quite shocked, while I remained relatively calm; it happens often due to my age and the color of my car. As long as I could still make it to my cup of warm beans, I was okay with it.
The officer took his time thoroughly inspecting my car, and thanks to his efforts, we arrived five minutes too late to order my coffee. I was pretty annoyed.
On the way home, one of my friends casually pointed to a parked car and said, “Hey Jeff, isn’t that the car you’re looking for?” I immediately stopped in the middle of the road, told my friend to park my car somewhere nearby, and dashed toward the Mustang.
(My previously shocked friend couldn’t process what was happening and was stunned by my sudden stop until my other friend explained it to him.)
I saw the Mustang Mach-E parked with its emergency lights on in front of someone’s home. A guy was standing by the window, and I started pointing at the car. Another man, who I assumed was the owner, came outside with a big smile and asked why I was wandering around in flip-flops in the rain. I explained my story, and he was genuinely excited, as he had already been looking for aftermarket parts for his car! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS?!
"Vous savez, au début, mon petit ami m'a demandé si j'avais engagé une escorte surprise pour lui parce qu'il y avait un beau blond qui faisait signe devant notre fenêtre. Vous êtes exactement son type".

And that’s how I found the Mustang Mach-E to develop our products!
Le premier balayage
Wow, after such an adventure to find this car, I could finally make scans of it that upcoming weekend! I was so excited. But the adventure didn’t end there.
The Mustang Mach-E owner came to our workshop, and we began scanning all the parts of the Mach-E. Meanwhile, I needed to grab some pastries for a good friend of ours, so I stepped out for about 30 minutes.
On my way back from the bakery, our Tesla suddenly started to tremble and went into emergency mode… THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD AND UNMOVABLE.

After a month, we finally got it back. It turned out the rear engine had been completely pulverized and needed to be replaced. Thank God for warranties!
While Yuan and I were trying to get the Tesla moved to the Tesla garage, our team finished the first scan!

Le deuxième balayage
We actually managed to finish the first scan, even after spending hours trying to get the broken Tesla off the road—thankfully, our team pulled through! In the process, we came up with a few new product ideas for areas we hadn’t scanned yet inside the car, so we needed to arrange a second scan. The owner was on vacation during this time, but he didn’t mind us coming by to scan his car again; in fact, he invited us to do it at the campsite where he was staying!
I don’t think I’ve ever had so much audience and interest while scanning a car. We felt like a public attraction! It turned out to be a really nice experience that ended with us enjoying a lovely wine and a perfectly homemade pizza on a barbecue that the owner prepared himself!

Le développement du produit
The development didn’t have as wild a story as the rest of the Mustang Mach-E journey, so here are just a few pictures of our 3D sketches!

Montage final
After our computer development was complete, we created some initial test models to try on the car. It was a first-time fit, and the outcome was very promising!
I hope you enjoyed our story about the development of the Mustang Mach-E aftermarket accessories. I’ll be back with more in our next blog!
