We often receive questions about our products and how we develop them. This prompted us to consider sharing an overview of the entire R&D process that each product goes through before it becomes ready for your car!

With over 500 different products for a wide variety of vehicles, we can’t create a step-by-step story for each one. Instead, we’ve decided to use footage from various accessories we’ve developed for different car models.

So find a comfortable seat and grab your reading glasses if needed, because there are several steps a product must undergo before the idea transforms into a tangible item!

It all starts with monitoring the best-selling car models and identifying which ones are likely to continue selling well for an extended period. Since significant investment goes into the development of these products, we want to ensure that we’re not pouring money into accessories for a car that only had a brief spike in sales. Therefore, we track sales for at least six months after a car’s release date!

While a high number of sales is a positive indicator of potential business, it doesn’t guarantee everything. This is where the real research begins.

As mentioned earlier, a high number of sales is a strong indicator that this car model has the potential for product development. However, just having the numbers isn’t enough evidence to justify a significant investment in this specific model. We need to determine if the car requires any improvements and whether the community of drivers is actively seeking accessories. A crucial factor to consider is the car manufacturer itself, as they often provide many accessories with the vehicle. In such cases, we must offer alternatives that are not only more affordable but also of higher quality to truly benefit the community.

You might be wondering how we figure these things out. The answer lies in engaging with the community of this car. We participate in forums and groups, reading what people like and dislike about their newly acquired vehicles. For every dislike, we aim to develop solutions to enhance the car and improve the overall EV driving experience. Drawing on our own R&D experience, we also conduct thorough assessments of the car to identify potential weaknesses or flaws, allowing us to address them proactively before they become an issue for you!

Once we’ve established that the car has potential and brainstormed the necessary accessories, it’s time to turn those ideas into reality. First, the product needs to be sketched and aligned with the style of the specific car. However, while a random sketch may look good, we need precise measurements to ensure it’s tailor-made and fits the actual vehicle. This means we have to get our hands on one of those cars to scan its dimensions into the computer.

Since we simply don’t have the resources to purchase these cars, we need to explore alternative ways to obtain the vehicle for our 3D scans. We always check to see if anyone in our network has bought the specific model, but this isn’t always straightforward.

When we can’t get the car through acquaintances, we return to the basics: Facebook! We politely ask if anyone has the car and would be willing to help us with our project. In return for their assistance, we offer to provide them with all the products for free. However, there are times when even Facebook doesn’t come through, so we rely on our social skills to find the car. We patiently wait until we spot one on the street, then approach the owner to explain our project in the hope that they find it interesting enough to assist us!

So far, we have always managed to get our hands on the targeted cars. Once we find someone willing to let us borrow their vehicle, we can begin arranging a day for our 3D scan! We collaborate with a third party that specializes in performing these scans. Precision is critical; our products can only be off by 0.001 millimeters to ensure a perfect fit.

We schedule a date and arrive at the car with our scanning team, making sure that every necessary part is scanned. We use our sketches to indicate exactly which areas of the car need to be captured.

Once the scan is complete, we can finally tailor our products to the actual dimensions of the car! We use computer software to recreate our sketches and fit the designs onto the 3D model of the vehicle.

Herstellung des Prototyps

Once the products are fitted to the 3D model, we can create the first mold! We use highly detailed machinery to ensure that the mold is precisely the size of the model we created in the computer.

Once the first mold is complete, we need to verify that the measurements are correct before using it for mass production. To do this, we create our first prototype using the newly made mold. We then return to the car to ensure that it fits perfectly in every corner!

Produktion

After the prototype is perfectly fitted to the car’s dimensions, we will begin production of the product. This process is carried out by sophisticated machines in our factory, operated by our specialized engineers to ensure that everything is done safely and in compliance with all regulations.

Once we have a large batch of products ready and have verified that the quality meets our standards, they are shipped in containers to our warehouse. Then it’s time to ensure they reach our EV community safely!
